After Shave

After shaving, your skin needs moisture.
It’s important to moisturize and protect the skin after shaving. Traditional wet shaving also exfoliates the skin in the shaved area, and without proper post-shave hydration, your face may start to feel itchy or tight.

After the final rinse, it's a good idea to rub an alum block over the shaved area. Alum disinfects the skin and closes small cuts and nicks. Wet the stone and gently rub it onto the skin. You can either leave the alum on or rinse it off.

After using alum, we recommend applying an aftershave balm. It restores the skin’s natural moisture and leaves it feeling smooth and comfortable.

Alternatively — or additionally — you can use an aftershave splash. These often contain alcohol, which causes a brief stinging sensation on the skin immediately after shaving. If that feels too irritating, try applying the aftershave splash a couple of hours later, once your pores have closed and the sensitivity has faded.
